Some photos from the edible schoolyard in Berkeley. I didn’t get a chance to take as many pictures as I would have liked. Even more remarkable than the garden is the kitchen classroom next to the garden, where students cook up food grown in the garden and learn about social studies, nutrition, and table manners. They have a brick pizza oven in the garden, where students prepare pizza from scratch, even grinding down the grain to flour using a bicycle powered mill. If only all schoolyards in America looked like this so many of our problems could be solved.
